Family Flicks
Last year when my wife and I were flying back from India to the states, we were delighted to watch the movie, Wild Hogs. The movie is a story of four middle-aged men (John Travolta, Tim Allen, Martin Lawrence, and William H. Macy) who endeavor to recapture the adventure of their younger days through a motorcycle road trip. The movie was funny, clean, and devoid of foul language.

Within a couple days of returning, we rented the movie at Blockbuster so
our family could watch it together. To our stark surprise, what I thought
was a family-friendly movie turned out to have foul language and sexual innuendos.
I was bummed. The movie was great on the airplane – without curse words.
I have friends who allow their children to watch just about any movie that
comes to the theater. But I still have this urge to use discretion as to
what is fed into the minds of my kids and what values are instilled.
That is why I’m thankful for movies such as the one featured on our
cover, Fireproof (www.fireproofthemovie.com).
From the creators of Facing the Giants (another solid picture), Fireproof stars Kirk Cameron, the star of the sit-com Growing Pains and the movie, Left Behind. It is a wholesome movie that shows the world that movies can be solid and entertaining without profanity, nudity, and sexual situations. Evan Almighty and the Narnia movies also prove that movies can be wholesome and powerful at the same time.
