The Puzzled Woman
Has your loved one ever looked at you and said, “I just can’t
figure you out.” My husband Ned said it will take him a lifetime
to understand me! We are enigmas, but if you look really close, our pieces
fit together into a beautiful mosaic puzzle. Joan Webb, author of “The
Relief of Imperfection,” spoke with me last week. I asked her about
the Proverbs 31 woman in the Bible. She seemed perfect – in fact, just
reading all she does wears me out. “Well,” Joan replied laughing, “it
never says she did all that in one day, one week, one year or even one season
of her life. The Hebrew meaning of the word ‘perfect’ is ‘relief’,” she
said. It’s growing, living with integrity. It’s a heart thing.

Webb explained she spent years trying to be the perfect wife and avoid conflict at any cost. She ran a successful business, tried to always please her husband, her family and her friends. She succeeded for awhile and then broke down with severe burnout. She fell apart. As God lovingly began to put her back together she started to slow down and
live. One Bible verse that helped her
is Isaiah 12:2: “God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid.
The Lord is my strength and my song.” Over time and through
prayer, Joan began to heal and become the woman she discovered God created
her to be, not what society told her she should be.
My birthday is this month and I would like to give a present to you....grab
a glass of iced-tea, prop your feet up and spend some time on you. Jesus
might even be able to talk to you more because your ears and hearts are relaxed
and open.
I love you gals...
