Getting The Most Out Of Your Workout
With Resistance Bands
The next time you’re feeling bored with your regular work out try using
resistance bands. You’ve seen them, those brightly colored bands. They
are extremely effective for developing strength, endurance, and flexibility.
And they travel well so take one with you on vacation.
It can be confusing trying to figure out how to use them at first. Keep in mind that you can perform many of the same exercises as you do with free weights—and then some. For example, you can stand on the band and grip the ends for bicep curls or overhead presses. You can attach it to a closed door and do lat pulldowns or tricep pushdowns. You can wrap the band around your back for chest exercises or shoulder rotations. If you’re working with a partner, you can each hold one end of the band, get into a lunge position and rotate away from each other to challenge the core. The possibilities are endless.
If you’re really adventurous and want a superior resistance band workout
you can find a location that offers classes on the CorePole. There’s
no denying it’s an unusual looking contraption that will dazzle even
the seasoned exerciser. Consider this: it’s a vertical pole attached
to a 350 lb. base. It sort of looks like a May Pole. Resistance straps are
attached at various points on the pole. You get full body work including getting
your heart rate up. There’s no need for dumbbells, or bulky machines
to work different muscles at various intensities.
Most exercises target the upper and lower body and you don’t even realize how much you are using your core. It’s not called the CorePole for nothing!
